Fine fabrics and delicate textiles require a little extra TLC. Here’s our easy guide to looking after your favourite tie dye silk pieces
Many of our classic pieces are crafted from luxurious silk, renowned for its lightness, softness and lustrous sheen. Gorgeous pieces, like the ZEN MAXI DRESS or the LANA DRESS, gracefully embrace the body and feel like you’re hardly wearing anything at all.
While this is a beautiful and durable fabric that is meant to accompany you on your adventures, for many it is also an investment and must be treated with care if you want the pieces to last. If you follow our care instructions below for each of our tie dye colourways, your fave silk dresses should last you for years to come.
How to care for your favourite FARA tie dye silks
Each of our pieces is carefully crafted and lovingly stitched and designed for the rough and tumble of the nomadic lifestyle, however, if not cared for correctly, the colour can fade and the silk can weaken. Here are our suggestions for looking after our signature silk dresses and tie dye colourways:
TOURMALINE TIE DYE
One of our most popular tie dye colourways, our shimmering Tourmaline Tie Dye is seen on pieces like the LANA DRESS and MALA DRESS. Exuding the energy of one of our favourite stones, tourmaline is the colour of compassion and radiates energy that attracts stability.
We recommend keeping this stunning colour out of direct sunlight for extended periods of time (don’t leave out in direct sunlight for 24+ hours). Also, do not throw FARA silks in the washing machine. Dry cleaning or hand washing in cold water with silk detergent is the best way to preserve your beautiful pieces.
FAWN TIE DYE / AGATE TIE DYE
Lightweight and sophisticated, our Fawn Tie Dye and Agate Tie Dye colourways are ethereal beauties. Fresh and celestial, these versatile pieces, like our ZEN MAXI DRESS and LA PLAGE KAFTAN look gorgeous in any setting, whether strolling on the beach or attending a sexy dinner.
We recommend spot cleaning these pieces and laying flat to dry, or occasionally dry cleaning or washing fully by hand with silk detergent in cold water.
TIGERS EYE TIE DYE
This gorgeous earthy brown tie dye is both feminine and subdued. Elegantly sexy with a radiant lustre that really shines like a tiger’s eye stone, this beautiful colourway radiates in the MYSORE JUMPSUIT and FARA CAMI. Always ready for a night on the town, this sexy, earth-toned colour can be easily dressed up or down.
The same cleaning rules apply, but be sure to wash solely with cold water so it loses none of its earthy lustre. It is also important to keep out of direct sunlight for extended periods of time (24+ hours on end) in order to prevent fading.
MASALA TIE DYE
The luminous colour of our dreams, these vivid pieces include our ZEN DRESS and LANA DRESS. Made for the vibrant summer days ahead, these pieces shine bright during any festivity.
The same cleaning rules apply for this colourway, but also be sure to wash solely in cold water and avoid spraying perfume or deodorant directly on these garments.
SHADOW TIE DYE / CLASSIC BLACK
Enchanting and chic, these alluring hues look gorgeous on any skin tone. Seen in pieces like the TAO KIMONO and MIA JUMPSUIT.
These subdued and sexy pieces need the same care as our Tourmaline Tie Dye colourway. If properly cared for, these luxurious colourways will smolder for years to come!
